About

My name’s James, and I’ve worked in the automotive and motorsport industry as a journalist, a copywriter, an editor and a producer since 2011.

In the early years, I worked mainly freelance for titles as prestigious as Autosport and Motor Sport magazines, and with due diligence paid, I signed on for my first full-time editorial job in January 2012.

Until mid-2014, I was Deputy Editor for crankandpiston.com, overseeing content for one of the Middle East’s most popular motoring websites. Then came June 2014 and a chance to take over the editorship of sister publication EVO Middle East magazine. This was a role that came with a mighty pair of shoes to fill, requiring as it did that I provide articles, car reviews and news items – preferably informative and entertaining – in a timely fashion as well as oversee the accompanying photography shoots. Of course, select afternoons were also spent test driving performance weapons like the Ferrari 458 Speciale, McLarens 12C through 675LT, myriad Porsches, several classic American muscle cars, and, on one occasion, a monster truck. Not a bad way to earn a living!

On top of this ‘arduous’ work, as a Senior Consultant for the magazine’s parent company Awesome Group, I was heavily involved in video and promotional projects for many of the region’s largest agencies and the international motoring manufacturers they represented.

The time eventually came in 2017 to bid farewell to the Middle East and start a brand-new challenge in North America. While still heavily involved in the motoring industry, I’ve now taken on more responsibilities with both regional and international motor racing, a childhood passion that has since seen me cover Formula 1, Indycar, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and international GT and touring cars for multiple publications. Since 2017, I’ve also provided most news content, interviews, in-depth features, social media posts, and a press release here and there for the endurance racing-focused 24H SERIES based in Europe. I even found time to oversee the News Desk for PetroliciousCo in California, which meant being figuratively knee-deep in classic Alfa Romeos and Mercedes’ most mornings.

A genuine enthusiasm for all things motoring and motorsport has given me a career I not only enjoy immensely but have worked hard for. One that has provided me with unforgettable experiences across three different continents I rarely thought possible as I was growing up.

Fancy teaming up? Check out my online portfolio and let me know if there are any projects – on-going or one-off alike – we can collaborate on. As you’ve probably guessed, I’m always up for a new challenge!
